FAQ
Frequently asked questions
01What security deposit should I expect?
We take a security deposit when you pick up the car: $2,500 or $5,000 depending on the model, shown on its page. You get it back when the car is returned, as long as the inspection is satisfactory.
02What about insurance?
Insurance terms are set out when you book.
03How many kilometres are included?
Each rental month includes 2,500 km. Beyond that, each extra kilometre is billed $1.00, before GST and QST.
04How old do I need to be to rent, and what documents do I need?
You need to be 25 or older (no rentals under 25), hold a valid driver’s licence for at least 2 years, and show government-issued photo ID. We may also ask for a satisfactory driving record.
05Do you deliver the car, or do I pick it up?
Pickup is at our location, 944 Chem. Trudeau in Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, on Montreal’s South Shore. If you want the car delivered elsewhere in Greater Montreal, say so in your request: we confirm whether it works and what it costs before anything is booked.
06What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 48 hours before the rental starts and there is no charge. Inside 48 hours, a cancellation may cost the equivalent of one day of rental.
07Can I pay online?
No. The site sends a booking request, not a payment. Nothing is charged through this site.
08What is the difference between monthly rental and long-term leasing?
At DRL Automobile, monthly rental means a car from the fleet at a monthly price, with no rigid commitment. Long-term leasing is for needs that run several months (a relocation, an extended work assignment, a stand-in while your own car is on order): you get a written agreement, priced for the vehicle and the term, before handover.
09Do you rent electric pickup trucks?
DRL Automobile rents Chevrolet Silverado EVs, Trail Boss versions included, and GMC Sierra EVs in Elevation and Denali trims, by the month. You book them like the rest of the fleet, collected on Montreal’s South Shore or delivered in Greater Montreal on request.
